Late Night with Conan O'Brien Goodbye

Conan's last show as the host of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and also his last show with New York as the show's home was a very emotional one. His very last musical guest chosen was The White Stripes, doing a slightly different, yet very emotional version of "We're Going to Be Friends" to help Conan bid farewell to his 12:35am "Late Night" spot. After the performance, Conan walks to the performers, as per usual after a performance, but you can hear him thanking both Jack and Meg and also telling Jack, "That meant the world to me."

Here is a video of the performance

An mp3 of the performance can be downloaded here (thanks to Stereogum)

Taking over for Mr. O'Brien (as many may already know) is Jimmy Fallon. So, soon, everyone will say hello to "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon", but not without being preceded by "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" (that felt awkward to type...)

Conan has served late night, as well as his "Late Night" spot, amazingly for the past 16 years. I am hoping that when Conan comes here to L.A., his style and the comedic genius of his show is preserved, as well as the great musical guests he has on oh, so often.

Conan begins his new 11:35am "Tonight Show" run on June 1st.
